Susana Casas was born in Seville in 1977. At the age of 8 she started to dance learning from José Galván. Later Matilde Coral and Manolo Marín gave her dance lessons.
Susana Casas started her career very early, she was still a child when she started to perform in several cities in Spain, such as Madrid, Barcelona, etc. In 1992 she started to perform abroad debuting in France, where she was working for several years. A few years later Susana travelled to Mexico DF and to Netherlands with her play “Fiesta Gitana” by Curro Vélez. In 1996 she performed the show “Carmen” by Yoko Komatsubara in Japan. In “Carmen” she danced with Luis Ortega, Alejandro Granados and Torombo.
Susana has participated in a couple of TV shows such as “Venta del duende” and also in the film “Flamenco” by Carlos Saura with the ballet of Matilde Coral and in the documentary “Dances of the world” produced by the Discovery Channel.
In 1994 in the Bienal of Seville she performed as part of the Mario Maya’s company in the plays “De lo flamenco” and “De Cai a Cuba”.
Susana Casas combined her work in different plays and companies with performances in such important tablaos as Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona, the Palacio Andaluz, the Arenal or Tablao Los Gallos de Sevilla.
As part of the Ballet of Cristina Hoyos, Susana has acted in such plays as “Arsa y Toma” by Ramón Oller, “Al compás del tiempo”, “Tierra Dentro” by José Luis Casto, “Tiempo y Compás” and “Yerma”. In the last one in 2003 Susana was main dancer and the play was a big success. She has participated in this Ballet for six years.
In 2004 Susana Casas joined the flamenco Barcelona Andalusian Ballet of Cristina Hoyos in the plays “Romancero Gitano” by José Carlos Plaza and “Viaje al Sur” by Ramón Oller.
She has also collaborated in the didactic collection called “Ritmo flamenco Barcelona Rhythm” by Pedro Sierra.
Susana Casas acted as guest artists in “La Hora del Duende” and “Junquerías” by El Junco.
In 2009 Susana and El Junco presented new show "Por un Sueño" (For a Dream) in The Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz. The show was a big success for the dancer.
In 2010 Susana Casas with the show "Por un Sueño" participated in Expo 2010 in Shanghai China. The dancer presented Spain in the week that was dedicated to Andalusia.
Throughout her career Susana Casas received different prestigious awards, such as Farolillo de Oro of Seville, the 1st National Prize "Matilde Coral" the 2nd National Prize in the Alegrías dance category, the 1st Prize to (Cádiz) best freestyle dance or the 2nd Prize in the Festival Internacional de Cante de las Minas.
