The tradition of Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona starts in 1970, the year of its foundation, when artists who were already considered legends of this art acted in its stage. Mythical names like Camarón de la Isla, Farruco, Manuela Carrasco, Chocolate, Turronero, Fernanda y Bernarda and many more. During the next years, Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona received also important artists that made evolve the entire flamenco world shortly after. Those artists were Belén Maya, Eva la Yerbabuena, Israel Galván, Mila de Vargas, Rafael de Carmen, La Susi, Miguel Poveda and Montse Cortés, among others.
More recently, after the 40th anniversary of this historical institution of flamenco Barcelona, artists who are called to be in the books of history of this art in a few years or those who already appear on them have performed in Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona. Thanks to the opening of flamenco to international audience, most of them have a poster around the world and they usually travel to theatres of the most important cities of the world. Artists such as Farruquito, Pastora Galván, Juan de Juan, José Maya, Karime Amaya, Paloma Fantova, David Cerreduela, Alfonso Losa, Jesús Carmona, Marcos Flores, El Farru, La Tana or José Valencia, among many others that we don’t mention to avoid and endless text.
Thanks to this extensive list, Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona have always been able to offer the maximum quality in its productions. Already in 1981, its first big production and posterior first night in Sevilla called “Andalucía en Pie” (Andalusia standing) counted on Mila Vargas as its first figure and on Fosforito, La Susi, Chiquetet and Faico among others under the direction of José Tamayo. It is possible that this production was one of the most ambitious projects of flamenco Barcelona musical theatre that have ever been presented.
Already in XXI century, on the occasion of its 40 anniversary, Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona brought together legendary artists on the same stage in “De Córdoba a Cádiz”, “Málaga Catanora” and “Sevilla Pura”, 3 unrepeatable productions that counted with the artistic direction of Farruquito.
More recently, Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona, with its last 3 productions, has risen the bar even more. The first one “Carmen, Carmen, Carmen” is a production created as a tribute show to the most important bailaora ever born in Barcelona. It has count on artists like Pastora Galván, Karime Amaya, Belén López, La Tana, José Maya and Amador Rojas, among many others.
The second production “Vivir Flamenco”, a show that tells the entry and progressive integration of the gipsy people in Spain, both trough the religion and thanks to the conciliatory capacity of flamenco as a blend of cultures.
Finally “Los Farruco y los Amaya”, a tribute show to 2 of the most distinguished families of flamenco history, with 2 of the most important heirs of each saga, Karime Amaya and the unrepeatable Farruquito.
